Helen and Adrien met at a Halloween party in 2021. Helen was wearing her Homer Simpson hat – Adrien wasn’t dressed up, having just arrived in Seattle earlier that day. They talked about living far from home during the pandemic and running. Helen told Adrien he should come to Frelard run club in Ballard. She was really surprised when he showed up, and a few weeks later they were on their first date.

A couple months later still, they took their first trip together going to Las Vegas, Zion and Bryce Canyon. It is still one of their favorite memories together, though they’ve been fortunate to have taken many fantastic trips since then, seeing parts of Washington and France that were new to them both. On their most recent trip to France, Helen gifted Adrien an Airbnb experience where he wrote and recorded a song, which hasn’t yet gone viral – but these things are hard to predict.

Helen and Adrien bring out the silliest sides of each other. Even after three years together, they haven't yet tired of making the same jokes and funny faces over and over again.

Adrien proposed to Helen in April, during a beautiful getaway on San Juan Island that included some great hikes, staying at an inn with alpacas in the backyard, playing a board game in the ferry, a detour to the tulip festival – and of course they did a run together the day after they got engaged!

Now, we are so happy to have found each other that we are getting married twice next year… on May 17th in Seattle, and on June 14th in Maissemy, France. Our family and friends are incredibly important to us and we wanted to be able to celebrate with everyone. Thank you all for your love and support! 😄
